Tyson Fury commits to Deontay Wilder fight preparations

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury informed his many social media fans Wednesday he would not post again until finished with his trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder. The “total blackout” will allow Fury to focus on his October 9 fight date.

The Trilogy fight between the two heavyweight behemoths was supposed to happen on July 24. The bout was rescheduled for October 9 after the “Gypsie King” tested positive for COVID. Insiders say training camp was not going well for Fury before the positive diagnosis.

Fury told his social media followers they would still see regular updates on his profiles. However, the updates will become the responsibility of someone other than him. People that know the champion question whether he can stay away from social media for seven weeks.

The three-year history between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder has included more than its fair share of controversy. The men first met in the ring in December 2018 and fought to a draw. The result set up the most anticipated heavyweight rematch in recent history.

Tyson Fury dominated the second fight with Deontay Wilder and claimed the championship via the 7th round stoppage. The convincing victory caused Wilder and many of his fans to openly accuse Fury of cheating.

Tyson Fury intended to fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world against Anthony Joshua after his second fight with Wilder. He argued that the rematch clause both he and Wilder agreed to was no longer valid.

Deontay Wilder filed a lawsuit to execute the clause, and the case went before a mediator. The mediator ruled Fury must fight Wilder again before seeking a fight with Joshua.
