Shakur Stevenson and Jamel Herring have agreed to face each other inside the ring. The agreement comes after months of trash talk from both fighters.

James Prince, Stevenson`s manager, says his fighter has already agreed to all terms. The fight will take place either in late October or sometime in November. The winner will walk away with the World Boxing Organization junior lightweight championship now held by Herring.

Both Shakur Stevenson and Jamel Herring will receive the highest paydays of their careers for their title fight. The location for the boxing match is not final, but promoters say Atlanta is a likely destination.

The 35-year-old Herring says he is happy with the fight proposal and waiting for a contract to sign. Herring says he is anxious to learn the date of the fight so he can begin preparations.

Shakur Stevenson won a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics and is a rising star as a professional. The fight with Herring will likely be the toughest challenge of his 16 fight career.

Stevenson is also coming off a less than stellar performance against Jeremiah Nakathila. The Newark native controlled most of the action en route to a 12 round unanimous decision but never seemed to have Nakathila in serious trouble.

Stevenson says he is unconcerned with the criticisms some fans and media members aimed at him following the Nakathila fight. Stevenson says if he beats Herring and then beats Oscar Valdez, ¨theyll be saying Im the best young fighter.”

Jamel Herring is a tough competitor who did two tours in Iraq as a Marine. Herring won the WBO title with a unanimous decision victory against Masayuki Ito in 2019. The last time he was in the ring, Herring stopped Carl Frampton in the sixth round to secure his third successful title defense.
